INÚTIL PAISAGEM

Desfigurada a Cidade Maravilhosa por signos incontornáveis da divisão e afastamento do outro, a imagem em movimento se revela talvez como a única possibilidade viável de intervenção na paisagem urbana. Por meio de um travelling fotográfico, realizei um vídeo no qual vemos a continuidade do gradeamento de Ipanema; ao fim do movimento, a câmera retorna em movimento contrário e vemos o mesmo conjunto arquitetônico sem as grades.

USELESS LANDSCAPE

The “wonderful” city of Rio de Janeiro having been disfigured by indelible signs of class division and banishment of the other, the moving image appears to be the only feasible possibility of intervention in the urban landscape. By means of a photographic travelling, I made a video in which we see the continuity of the barring of Ipanema – when this movement ends, the camera heads in the opposite direction and we see the same architecture now free of bars.
